Dark & Vampy with Some Hard Metal

I have been lusting after deep, dark, vampy nails. I present to you Essie Carry On. It's exactly what I was looking for. Excuse the messy cuticle area, it's a little difficult on darker polishes to make it look super neat. I'm not one of those awesome nail bloggers who clean up the cuticle after I'm done. However, looking at this mani it kinda makes me wish I did do a little clean up. It was pretty opaque in two coats so that made me happy. So many of the colors like this were described as jelly and I knew I didn't want to have to build 3-4 coats of such a dark polish. That just spelled disaster waiting to happen.

For this mani, I went for the metallic/foil polish. It's a dusty blue with silver all swirled into one. It took about two coats for this mani. I feel like I got tip wear pretty easily with this so I was kinda sad about that. Especially, because this polish is "Lasting Finish Pro - Up to 10 Days," I expected a little more. Either way it still applied easily and I love the finished look!

365 Days of Nail Polish: Day 9

I decided to try the other Fergie polish I picked up recently from Wet n Wild. This is Grammy Gold and it's really similar to Going Platinum except I don't love it as much. Formula and application are pretty much the same. I just love the color of Going Platinum a whole lot more! I only needed two coats and I didn't get any nasty brush strokes on either shade. If I had applied this color before Going Platinum I'd probably be in love with this one. Anyways, it's a foil, it's shiny, and it can be yours for only $3.49 from Walgreens! -T

I think its safe to say we are both having fun with foil/metallic colors! I chose Sinful Colors Dancing Nails for Day 9 and I loveee it! Of course with it being Sinful Colors I love the formula and the application is amazing! It took two coats to get this opaque and I finished with a top coat. I would definitely say this color is unique and I don't own anything else like it! You can find Sinful Colors at Walgreens for $1.99 and sometimes you can find it on sale for 99 cents!! -S

365 Days of Nail Polish: Day 8

Oh my gosh! I am in love with this polish. I think it's going to have to be labeled as my favorite metallic polish ever. This is Going Platinum from the Wet n Wild Fergie Collection. I was slightly annoyed that I had to shell out $3.49 for this polish, but I'm over it now after staring at my nails all day long. It took two coats to be opaque and I added Seche Vite as a top coat. It's a silver foil polish with gold flecks which I think helps to warm up the polish and not wash out my skin. I don't want to take this polish off!! But I will. Tomorrow :) -T

I chose a minty green color for today and I am in love with it!!! I thought it would be like all of my other mint green polishes but it is definitely not! It's a much brighter version of anything else I own! Also, it's Sally Hansen which is an AMAZING formula. I'd definitely say SH is one of my favorite brands if not my FAVORITE.  I just wish the Xtreme Wear had more color options! It took two coats to be opaque but I almost could have gotten away with just one! -S

365 Days of Nail Polish: Day 7 (In Honor of Miley Cyrus)

Day 7 is here!! If you guys saw this video then you know all about Miley Cyrus and her new hair debacle. When choosing my polish for Day 7 I immediately knew which polish I had to use.  I've actually used this polish before, but my base was an untried for me. The base is China Glaze Dance Baby from the Electropop Collection.  For my accent nail, I chose Wet N Wild Hannah Pinktana in honor of Miley.  Dance Baby applied pretty well. I only needed two coats for full opacity. Hannah Pinktana wasn't as easy to work with. The polish was a little thick and wanted to build up a lot! Overall I'm happy with my Hannah Pinktana Miley Cyrus tribute mani! -T

For your viewing pleasure:

I chose a pink for Day 7 as well!! I used Sinful Colors polish in Starfish! After Tracy told me she was wearing "Hannah Pinktana" in honor of Miley, I contemplated playing around with Essie Ballet Slippers (haha, bun pun.) That wasn't even funny.  Anyways, I decided against it because I've actually used that polish quite a bit! As I've said before I typically love the SC formula and this one was no different from the rest. It took about two coats to be opaque. My only complaint is my dang top coat! I have yet to find one that doesn't try to bubble up in the center! Let me know if you have any top coat suggestions! -S

As always let us know what polish you are wearing today?

365 Days of Nail Polish: Day 6

For Day 6, I went for another untried Sinful Colors. This is Open Seas and I love it as much if not more than Rain Storm from yesterday's post. I'm thinking I might just have to do a Top 10 Favorite Sinful Colors post. This polish covered completely in two coats, and I used Seche Vite as my top coat. I wasn't sure it was going to be opaque in two coats, because the first was a little thin/streaky.  If you're thinking this color is familiar, it's a dupe for OPI's Mermaid Tears from their Spring 2011 Pirate's of the Caribbean Collection. Can't wait to try more of my Sinful Colors polishes!! -T

For Day 6, I chose a Sinful Colors polish also! Savage is one of the polishes I picked up a few days ago. (along with about 4 others :X) Sinful Colors is probably my most neglected part of my collection. I don't know why I don't use them more because the formula is great! I applied two coats of this along with a top coat. The only downside to this color is it is matte, but that can be fixed as long as you have a top coat! It's also a dupe for the OPI Nicki Minaj color in Fly! -S

365 Days of Nail Polish: Day 5

It's Day 5, and I have a confession to make. The polish in this photo was just purchased last night! I know what you're thinking. I really shouldn't be purchasing new colors when I'm having a hard time using the ones I already own. I love nail polish, so sue me. Stef and I were scouring our town for the new Wet n Wild Saved by the Bell polishes, but they're nowhere to be found. I decided to console myself with a little Sinful Colors in Rain Storm. I am so happy I did. The formula is amazing and I almost got away with one coat! This is going to be a great color for fall! You can find Sinful Colors at most drugstores, and Walgreens frequently has them on sale for $.99 instead of $1.99! -T

For Day 5, I decided to try something completely different for me. I chose Revlon Aloof! I've always loved the pearly metallic white polishes, but I've always been scared of them because they tend to be streaky! That was definitely not the case with this one. It applied super easy and was opaque in two coats! Even though the formula was good, I'm just not super happy with the look. I guess it's just not my fave! To be honest, since writing this post I've already taken this polish off! (sorry, not sorry) I decided to do a little research prior to applying this color and others seem to agree that it's just not their favorite. It also tends to be a little bubbly/lumpy when dry. On a positive note, I've seen some bloggers layer glitter polishes over this color and it looks FANTASTIC!!  -S

365 Days of Nail Polish: Day 4

For Day 4, I drew inspiration from a nail blog! I used the same glitter, OPI Crown Me Already, but for the base I chose a polish I've never used before. The light pink is Spoiled - My Button Fell Off.  Spoiled is by Wet n Wild and not my most favorite nail polish line of all time. The brush is way too thick and the bristles are stiff. If you're someone who finds it impossible not to paint the sides of your fingers then I'd pass on this line of polish. It was opaque in two coats so I loved that about the formula. I always hate using pale pink polishes that are streaky and impossible to get opaque. Overall I feel kinda meh about this look. I wish I had achieved a lighter application of the glitter. I'll definitely try this look again though because when it's done right it's soooooo pretty! -T

I decided on a fun glitter mani as well! I chose Sinful Colors - Folly as my base. It's a great red/pink/coral cream. It's kind of a nail polish with a personality disorder. In some lights it looks red and in some it looks pink. The formula is great and I only needed two coats. The glitter is OPI - Rainbow Connection, but you can get this look from several other polishes. Check out Milani Gems, Confetti Tasmanian Devil, or Ulta Pinyata-Yada-Yada. As you can see we're both having fun with glitter polishes in different ways today! -S

365 Days of Nail Polish: Day 3

Day 3 brings a little sparkle and a little dupe for you guys. So far we're enjoying trying neglected polishes in our collection and apparently you guys are doing the same! We love hearing that we're inspiring you guys to try some of your polishes for the first time.

For Day 3, I went with this blue grey polish from OPI. It was part of the Spring/Summer 2012 Holland Collection and the only one we picked up!   It has tiny flecks of gold glitter and I love it! I needed three coats to avoid any VNL's and application was pretty smooth. Even though this polish is from a Spring/Summer collection, I think it would go great as a Fall/Winter color as well! -T

For Day 3, I chose to go a little brighter with a super fun hot pink color by China Glaze.  I didn't realize it was a dupe until Tracy and I compared our nails! So, if you own Orly Basket Case then you can pass on China Glaze Rich and Famous.  Only need two coats to get this baby opaque! The formula is great and application is a breeze. -S

365 Days of Nail Polish: Day 2

It's Day 2 of 365 Days of Nail Polish and we're back with new colors! Let me just start off by saying choosing a glitter polish first was not the way one should start a marathon such as this. I fought with the glitter polish from Day 1, but ended up winning in the end. The foil method is indeed the best way to go when removing a glitter nail polish.

For Day 2, I was definitely not going to choose another glitter. I went for a pretty bubblegum pink. I am in love with this nail polish. It's Orly Basket Case and the formula is amazing. Two coats and you're done. I added Seche Vite as a top coat and it's good to go. This is a great polish and you should definitely GGYS! -T

Orly - Basket Case

For Day 2, I chose a gorgeous sea foam green. I love the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes because they have a wider brush and they dry fairly quickly (hence the name). They also apply very smoothly. I used two coats of this polish and one coat of Nail Life Speed Demon top coat. (Please excuse how messy it looks!) I would definitely recommend this polish especially since it is super affordable! You can find it at most drugstores for less than five dollars! -S

Sally Hansen - Sea Breeze

365 Days of Nail Polish: Day 1

If you guys have seen our nail polish collections then you know we have a lot of polish!! We decided to try the 365 Days of Nail Polish to try and use all of our polishes at least once. Let's be honest: We all have those polishes we bought, added to our collection, and haven't touched since.

For Day 1, Tracy is wearing Claire's Candy Shop which Stefanie has done a blog post on. Stefanie decided on a similar glittery look wearing Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac topped with The Icing After Party.
For Candy Shop, I went with three coats to add extra sparkles! It applied super easy, but I'm terrified to take it off! Glitter polishes are the worst!

After Party is a really pretty flakie suspended in a clear base. There are gold, purple, orange, and teal colored flakes. We love it over this lavender polish from Sally Hansen. It took two coats of SH and two coats of AP to get this look.

Nail Trends from the Fall 2012 Fashion Runways

Fall is almost here and it's time to check out the nail trends spotted on the runway. Nail polish is one of our favorite accessories and we can't wait to start changing it up! Jewel tones are huge for this season. Go for navy or deep burgundy nails. Don't be afraid to try a darker nail for a really chic look. For the classic nails, try the French mani with a twist. Leather and lace were spotted as an unexpected way to add texture. Start practicing your hand at nail art and check out some of the trends from the fall runways.
